Set up 2-Step Verification

Go to the 2-Step Verification page. You might have to sign in to your Google Account.

1. Select Get started.
2. Follow the step-by-step setup process.

Once you’re finished, you’ll be taken to the 2-Step Verification settings page. Review your settings and add multiple verification methods (ie Goolge Prompt or Phone call if you do not prefer text messages). The next time you sign in, you’ll receive a text message with a verification code.

How to generate an App password for you iPhone or iPad

If you have a cell phone or ipad that you would like your IUPAT email on, you will need to generate an app password. This is a onetime password for each device and will replace your normal email password on that specific device. If you have problems with the below instructions, here is a quick YouTube video walking you through the process (video).

1. Visit your App passwords page. You may be asked to sign in to your Google Account.
2. At the bottom, click Select app and choose the app you’re using (ie Mail).
3. Click Select device and choose the device you’re using (ie iPhone).
4. Select Generate.
5. Follow the instructions to enter the App password (the 16 character code in the yellow bar) on your device.
   1. Iphone / iPad
      1. Go to Settings -> Accounts & Passwords -> Google Apps or Exchange -> choose your account at the top
      2. Half way down the screen replace your password with the new 16 character generated password
      3. Check to make sure you are sending and receiving mail.
6. Select Done.

Once you are finished, you won’t see that App password code again. However, you will see a list of apps and devices you’ve created App passwords for.
