How to Reinstate a Member

There are two ways to Reinstate a Member Record.  If your Local Union is using IMSe for Dues Processing, you MUST use Option 1, otherwise use Option 2.

Reinstatement of Suspended Members – Section 118 of the General Consitution

Making a Dues Payment

A Member becomes reinstated according to the General Constitution above “…on payment of back dues and arrearages, including dues for the current month, and a $50 reinstatement fee…”

The “Including dues for the current month” is very important.  This is there so that the member does not immediately become suspended again.

IMSe will require that when Dues are paid, the Reinstatement Fee cannot be paid until the Dues have been paid through the current month*.

 

*IMSe does allow you to pay the member through the previous month for cases where you receive the payment in the first week of the month and the member was trying to pay through the end of the current month.

 

Update Member Activity

For Locals NOT using IMSe for Dues Processing, you should still follow the rules of the General Constitution, but since IMSe does not know the Paid Through Date of a member, you will use the Membership Edit Activity Button to change the member status.

  1. Go to Member Management – Membership
  2. Search for your Member and View Member Summary
  3. Click on the Edit Button in the Membership Activity Box
  4. Select “Reinstatement” as the Member Activity
  5. Enter the Activity Date (This is the day the member paid all back dues, fees, and reinstatement)
  6. Review Per Capita Charges
  7. Click Save
