How to Suspend a Member

There are two ways to Suspend a Member Record.  If your Local Union is using IMSe for Dues Processing, you MUST use Option 1, otherwise use Option 2.

Suspension of Members for Failure to Pay Dues – Section 116 of the General Consitution

A Member becomes suspended according to the General Constitution above “…Any member indebted for three (3) months’ dues or an amount equal to three (3) months’ dues shall stand suspended…”

Arrears Listing

Go to Dues Processing – Arrears Listing – Search Local Union

All Members who are three months or more in Arrears will be listed, grouped by Member Class.

Any member who has a Suspension Date prior to the Current Date will have a Check-box to apply the Action (Suspend or Resign, based on Dues Profile).

Select the Members to be Suspended

Click Preview Action

Review List – Click Apply Action

Update Member Activity

For Locals NOT using IMSe for Dues Processing, you should still follow the rules of the General Constitution, but since IMSe does not know the Paid Through Date of a member, you will use the Membership Edit Activity Button to change the member status.

  1. Go to Member Management – Membership
  2. Search for your Member and View Member Summary
  3. Click on the Edit Button in the Membership Activity Box
  4. Select “Suspended” as the Member Activity
  5. Enter the Activity Date*
  6. Review Per Capita Charges
  7. Click Save

[ht_message mstyle=”alert” title=”Suspension Activity Dates” show_icon=”true” id=”” class=”” style=”” ]IMSe does not allow Regular Members to be suspended within six months of the Initiation Date. This is because IMSe Assumes the member is paying six months advanced dues at the time of Initiation.[/ht_message]
